When I first decided to do this blog I was so reluctant to write about established artist/ celebrities because Im most interested in the very beginning stages of a career. I like finding out about the newbies! Its exciting! Seeing an individual building, climbing and then like magic they have arrived. Everyone covers the stars but theres something intriguing about the beginning when someone is just starting out on a new journey. It shows their strong faith that there is something out there way better than where they are at the present time and without knowing what's to come they have built up the strength to "go get it!" This journey does not necessarily have to be fame or fortune but when it come down to becoming a star, thats usually one of the destinations. When an artist make a serious decision to share their craft its amazing to see them make their mark and create a dent in the universe. They are vulnerable but needless to say trailblazing, so here I am writing about an established artist who is signed to Def Jam. He has taken the music industry by storm creating amazing music and so much more! Inspiration!
I feel a serious momentum being created around this upcoming masterpiece. I say masterpiece because at the age of 21 he has already dropped numerous bodies of work that should be considered classic.
I named all these greats because August is not your average R&B crooner. The native of New Orleans has pretty much bared his soul song after song with the truth about his life and struggles. His decision to take this musical path had alot to do with the loss of his brother, it forced him to make a solid decision about the direction of his own life. Every time I peek in on his progress all that comes from him is integrity, sincerity, realness, someone who wants to make a connection to those who can relate. His movement is about the struggle and overcoming and its the way he deliver and express his message that has captured millions including myself.
August has been constantly mistaken for a rapper which I don't see how but the gift he has brought is quite different. Instead of separating the genres like most artist do, the way I interpret August is whether consciously or unconsciously he has creatively found a unique way to integrate genres without compromising the integrity of the music. His music (without a shadow of a doubt) reflect the influence of Hip Hop because of his struggle but it is being delivered in an R&B style. This uniqueness means he is in his own lane which is something to be excited about for music lovers. Now back to my interest and how I like seeing the beginning stages. I didn't get the opportunity to see the beginning stages with August starting from youtube days and the grind (my loss) but Im happy to be on board now. Im so happy and excited for him its a lil hard to contain. This feeling is due to his dose of truth and my love for real music. I mean for god sake the only Icon/Legend that I ever wanted to see perform was Tupac Shakur and I received my wish for FREE. I see August creating that same desire to just witness him and his movement but
Sidenote: August if you ever check out this post, there is alot more I want to say but to keep it short (cause I can
